Re: Hamilton - Sopinka Regular Motions

Regular motions and applications (less than one hour) at the John Sopinka Courthouse are now scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10:00 a.m.

In response to requests from the bar and, with the endorsement of the HLA Bench and Bar Committee, all regular motions and applications will be conducted in a HYBRID manner. Counsel and litigants may continue to appear virtually by Zoom, but will have the option to attend in-person. (Note: The Zoom link will continue to be accessed on Caselines.) While the default position is Hybrid, on occasion, the proceedings may have to be conducted virtually. If this is the case, the parties will be so informed by the Trial Coordinator.

Please indicate whether counsel or the litigants intend to appear in-person or virtually by noting it on Part A of the Confirmation Form (37B) following the time estimates.

Compliance with filing deadlines to the portal, uploading of materials to Caselines and fully completed confirmations, submitted no less than five (5) business days prior to the return date, will be strictly enforced. The parties are to refer to the Provincial and Central South Regional Practice Directions, along with the Rules of Civil Procedure.

Counsel shall have available a stand-alone draft order in the appropriate format.
