    Watson Estates seeking Civil Litigation Law Clerk — Full-Time, In‑Office

    Watson Estates is seeking a civil litigation law clerk to support principal, Heather Watson, in all stages of estate litigation and probate applications. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment, is highly organized, and is confident managing files independently. Experience in estate litigation and/or estate administration is considered an asset, but not mandatory. This is a full-time, in‑office position.

    Key Responsibilities

    • File Management — Maintain, organize, and track litigation files from intake through resolution.
    • Case Center — Upload, hyperlink, and organize documents; prepare hearing bundles; ensure compliance with court requirements for confirming and uploading motions and applications.
    • Document Preparation  — Prepare simple pleadings, affidavits, assemble motion records, correspondence, and probate applications.
    • Court Filing — File documents on JSO portal.
    • Scheduling — Coordinate examinations, mediations, motions, and hearings.
    • Client Communication — Liaise with clients, experts, and opposing counsel professionally and efficiently.

    Qualifications

    • Law Clerk Diploma or equivalent experience.
    • Ideally, 2+ years of civil litigation experience or 2+ years or estate administration experience with desire to learn civil litigation. Experience in estate litigation is an asset, not a requirement.
    • Strong understanding of Ontario court procedures and timelines.
    • Excellent drafting, organizational, and time‑management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal practice management software Case Centre, JSO portal, Clio, and Fido (Bequest) are assets.

    Compensation & Work Environment

    • Pay is commensurate with experience.
